Removing Short DNA from a Fragmented or Sheared Sample? Do You Need High Recovery Efficiency? Is Your Sample Low Concentration?
The Short Read Eliminator XS Kit uses size selective precipitation to dramatically reduce short reads below 10 kb.
This kit is more tolerant of fragmented DNA and low DNA concentration than its siblings. It also features a higher recovery efficiency (50-90%).
Short DNA fragments <10 kb are progressively depleted (i.e. depletion efficiency increases as DNA gets shorter). DNA <4 kb are nearly completely removed. Depletion range estimated based on sequencing read length distributions and gel electrophoresis.
The read length enhancement is dependent on:
1) the amount of short DNA present in the input DNA
2) the amount of long DNA present in the input DNA
This kit has been tested on Oxford Nanopore MinION/GridION/PromethION.

Overall recovery efficiency is dependent on:
1) the quality of the input DNA
2) input DNA concentration.
Expect to recover 50-90% of your HMW DNA.
This kit can be used with HMW DNA, fragmented DNA, sheared DNA, and PCR amplicons.
Processing requires only a simple centrifuge step and two wash steps. Total process time is 1 hour.
